This appropriately-named release (Vino di Vicino translates from Italian to Wine of the Neighborhood in English) is a blend of traditional Bordeaux varietals, comprising 70% Cabernet, 24% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot from three local vineyards, including 35% Cabernet Sauvignon from Leslie’s Montebello Estate. The lots were vinified separately, barrel-aged in French Oak (75% new barrels) for over 3-years, and then blended prior to bottling. It is very drinkable now, and the integrated tannins and balanced acidity should permit it to mature gracefully for a further 8-10 years in the bottle. Luscious Cabernet flavors dominate the blend, with dark red fruit, brown spice and a subtle hint of herbs. Pair it with a grilled ribeye steak, braised short ribs or your best roasted prime rib. A classic representation of the Montebello terroir!
