VARIETAL. 100% SyrahVINEYARD. Cedar Lane Vineyard, Arroyo Seco
WINEMAKING. This vintage is a classic expression of the rugged Arroyo Seco terroir. A single vineyard wine, from low-yielding vines located in the cool climate and fertile soils of the Salinas River Valley. Its exposure to harsh, marine-influenced climatic conditions creates a long growing season, which enables the complex flavors of this Northern Rhône varietal to develop. Great care was taken to extract its natural, deep color and rich tannins through a slow and delicate fermentation. Aged in French & American oak barrels (45% new) for 36 months, resulting in a powerful concentration of fruit flavors, juicy acidity and explosive aromatics.
TASTING
Aroma: Intensely aromatic with layers of black peppercorn, black currant, sage, smoked cedar plank, star anise & ripe plum.
Palate: Full-bodied with bold flavors of blueberry compote, dusty cocoa, & black olive, with a long lingering finish.
FOOD PAIRING. Enjoy with braised short ribs, smoked gouda cheese, or middle-eastern dishes such as chicken or beef shawarma, baba ganoush, za’atar, hummus and fresh pita.
