Description
VARIETAL. 100% MerlotVINEYARD. Cedar Lane Vineyard, Arroyo Seco, Monterey County
WINEMAKING. The Cedar Lane Vineyard is nestled neatly along the banks of the dried-out Arroyo Seco River. The coastal Monterey climate means cool foggy mornings with warmer afternoons, and these mild days allow the fruit to mature late into the growing season, avoiding overripe flavors. Aged in French and American oak barrels to highlight the natural dark red fruit tannins of the grape. The winemaking team selected the top barrels based on depth of flavor and mouthfeel and are extremely proud of the result. It is reminiscent of wine found in the left bank, and will hold its own next to wines from the Bordeaux region of France.
TASTING
Aroma: Lively fruit notes of ripe black cherry, plum, and black raspberry.
Palate: Bold but approachable, this elegant vintage possesses a wonderful minerality, with toasted vanilla spice, clove and cracked black pepper.
FOOD PAIRING. Pair with bone-in ribeye steak with rosemary, garlic & thyme, truffle fries, stuffed portobello mushrooms, french onion soup, and aromatic cheeses such as gorgonzola.
