2016 Mattie Rose
18 barrels produced
Lively, exciting and vibrant, this traditional Provencal-style rosé is made-up of 47% Grenache from Ventana Vineyards, 41% Sangiovese from Machado Creek, and 12% Malbec from Solana Vineyards. Using the Saignée method, each lot was pressed and barrel-fermented separately, with just enough skin contact to create the beautiful salmon luster, and then blended prior to bottling. Delightful aromas of fresh cut roses and tropical fruit mingle with flavors of watermelon, ripe strawberries and guava, and it has a refreshingly crisp minerality that lingers on the palate. An ideal accompaniment to charcuterie, melon and salty cheeses, it also pairs well with barbecued chicken, poached salmon, grilled vegetables or Tuscan picnic fare. Liquid Sunshine!
