Vino di Vicino translates from Italian to Wine of the Neighborhood in English, and this appropriately-named vintage is a blend of traditional Bordeaux varietals, comprising 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc & 8% Petit Verdot sourced from three local vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon delivers power and structure to the blend, the Cabernet Franc adds delicious aromatic components and the Petit Verdot contributes color and texture. The lots were vinified and barrel-aged separately in French Oak (50% new barrels) for over 2-years, and then blended prior to bottling. This luscious full-bodied wine displays layered flavors of crushed red fruit, dark chocolate and black cherry, framed by judicious toasty oak, vanilla and espresso notes, with silky tannins that linger through an extended finish. This wine is drinking beautifully already, but the integrated tannins and balanced acidity should permit it to mature gracefully through 2027. Pair it with grilled Portobello mushrooms, Kobe-style beef, filet mignon or your best Prime Rib roast. A classic representation of the Montebello terroir!
