This small production Sangiovese (pronounced san-joh-VAY-zeh) is sourced from a beautiful little vineyard nestled in a secluded valley in the southeastern foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's location guarantees an extended growing season, enabling us to let the fruit hang on the vine long into October, thereby taking full advantage of the hot dry days of summer. Aged in French oak (33% new barrels) for 24-months, this vintage exhibits powerful smoke-accented aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, floral pastilles and minerals. It delivers a suave blend of richness and vivacity, offering juicy dried fruit flavors with savory spice cake notes, complimented by a subtle creamy tannic finish. In perfect cellar conditions, this vibrant medium-bodied wine will continue to reward through 2025. Enjoy it with spicy pasta dishes, Cioppino, grilled meats and vegetables, pizza or Portuguese-style stuffed peppers.
