Reminiscent of the great Chianti Classicos of Northern Italy, this wine is a tribute to the creativity of our winemaker, Aimee, who was given complete freedom of expression in the vinification, aging and final blending of this medium-bodied cuvée.  It is comprised of 80% Sangiovese from the bio-dynamically farmed Gemelli Ranch in the western foothills of the Cienega Valley, 18% Merlot from the Dorcich Vineyard in San Martin, and 2% Petit Verdot from the Uvas Vineyard located east of Gilroy.  This vintage was barrel-aged for 48-months in 30% new oak (equal parts French, American and Hungarian), yielding a subtle imprint of oak and vanilla on the still vibrant fruit flavors of plum, blackberry and cherry.  The integration of Merlot and Petit Verdot enhances the color, body, bouquet and complexity of flavors, and produces a wine with better balance, and a greater capacity for aging.  This blend possesses a firm backbone of acidity, which cleanses the palate after a bite of food, making it the perfect companion to a variety of hearty Italian dishes.  Bellissimo!
