Limited rainfall set the tone for the 2009 growing season in Paso Robles, with totals reaching approximately half of the normal twelve inches. Malbec does extremely well in dry years, and 2009 was no exception. The wine was tank-fermented and aged in twice-used French barrels to showcase its amazing fruit. This big and luxurious wine is deeply colored with a velvety tannin structure, and the regional expression of blackcurrant, black cherry and chocolate.
It is ready to enjoy now and will continue to age and improve over the next 5-8 years. Pair it with a grilled rib-eye steak, roasted prime rib, lamb or a beautiful piece of dark chocolate. A Picchetti first!
