BRONZE MEDAL WINNER, Best of the Bay
Sangiovese dates back to the Etruscans in the Sixth Century BC, and is the great showman of Tuscan viticulture. This full-bodied version was aged in 30% new oak (50% French, 40% American and 10% Hungarian) and went through 100% malolactic fermentation. The nose has delightful flavors of strawberry, red fruit, cinnamon, cedar and vanilla from the light toasting of the oak barrels. The refreshing acidity and red fruit character make this the perfect complement for tomato-based dishes. Pair it with your favorite spicy Italian dishes, pizza or roasted lamb.

2007 VIOGNIER
Still Waters Vineyard, Paso Robles

BRONZE MEDAL WINNER, El Dorado County Fair
This sophisticated wine (pronounced Vee-on-yay) has a light, fresh and fruity nose, with hints of ripe apricot, orange blossoms and white peach, with floral tones. The mouth feel is elegant, which is very hard to achieve with this varietal, and shows tropical fruit notes, dried apricots and some minerality. It was fermented in stainless steel then aged in 100% neutral oak with no malolactic fermentation. An award winner and a perfect Summer wine! The very clean taste of a Viognier makes it a great pairing with a wide variety of foods, hence its increasing popularity. Serve chilled with creamy brie or oysters on the half-shell, as well as with lobster or rich buttery seafood dishes, or Thai cuisine.

For many years Sunday was the day everyone visited Picchetti Winery where there was always plenty of great food, wine and good company. The Sunday BBQ menu included beautiful steaks brushed with hand-made bunches of fresh rosemary and butter, served up with home-style Italian cooking. We could not think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon this summer than at Picchetti doing the same, so we have created the following menu to celebrate the history of the winery and the Picchetti Family.
