2007 Teraldego,
Mistral Vineyard, Santa Clara County
398 Cases Produced
Teroldego (pronounced TEH-RAWL-DAY-GO) has been cultivated since ancient
times in northeast Italy near Trentino. Reminiscent of our award-winning
Lagrein from some years back, this wonderful and very rare Italian varietal
comes from right here in Santa Clara County. Barrel-aged in 25% new
oak, it has an elegant, intriguing and complex structure. The inky,
big, dark, beautiful color, and full-bodied finish make this a great wine
to explore and expand your palate with friends. It has deeply concentrated
spicy, sweet, and dark berry flavors, and you may even detect some plum
and baking spices on the nose. Its balanced acidity make it very food-friendly,
and terrific with grilled or roasted red meats, spicy pastas, and even dark
chocolate. Undeniably unique!
