Reminiscent of the great reds of Northern Italy, this spectacular wine contains 80% Sangiovese from the Cienega Valley in San Benito County, blended with 20% Merlot from our San Martin vineyard. The cooler microclimate of the Cienega Valley ensures full flavor development of the Sangiovese, which is bio-dynamically farmed using only organic fertilizers. Barrel-aged for two years, this wine is very drinkable now, although it will continue to age for years to come. You will detect rich aromas of ripe cherry and strawberry from the Sangiovese and blackberry and spice from the Merlot, along with caramel and dusty earth tones from the toasting of the oak barrels.
